Grade 7 Orientation

Welcome to Junior High School!

Our welcome mat is out! Education is a cooperative effort between students, parents, and the school. We welcome the involvement of parents and guardians in the lives of their children at Queen Charlotte Intermediate. Regular supportive communication between the parents and teachers is encouraged. Parent teacher interviews are scheduled during the year, and we invite frequent, informal communication between interviews as well. Keeping the lines of communication open will enable us to better follow and enhance our students’ educational growth. Thank you!

Basic school supplies are now provided for students in K-9. Please note, teachers may request additional items depending on the course. Possible additional items may include:

  1. Pencil Case
  2. Lunch box
  3. Geometry Set and Calculator
  4. Earbuds or headphones
  5. French-English dictionary
  6. Backpack
  7. Indoor sneakers and gym clothing

Lunch

Grade 7 students are not permitted to leave the school grounds for lunch.

Our cafeteria provides an assortment of food items throughout the week! Students may bring their own lunch or purchase something from the cafeteria. Grade 7 students are dismissed 5 minutes earlier for lunch than the grade 8 and 9 students, so that they can purchase food first.

Early Arrival

Doors open at 8:35 a.m. On occasion your child may have to arrive early at school. If so, they are asked to wait outside the doors until 8:35 a.m. On days with poor weather conditions, students may be admitted into the school at 8:15 a.m.

Consent Forms and Notes

We encourage our students to participate in various physical activities. To inspire our students to become involved, our Phys. Ed. Staff and a number of other staff volunteers supervise intramurals and coach various school sports throughout the year.

Clubs

We also offer a number of clubs or groups your child may enjoy, such as chess club, student council, yearbook, drama, peer helpers and games room, just to name a few.

Band Program

For those students who were accepted into the band program we are pleased to provide your child with an extensive music enrichment program. Music students are encouraged to participate in Band Camp near the end of August. Please see Mrs Andrew for more information. The camp is highly recommended as the best possible start to learning how to play their musical instrument.

We look forward to working with your children.  Let’s work together to make this an enjoyable learning experience for everyone!
