Daily Announcements – Friday, June 4, 2021 – Day 6

Intramurals today at 12:25 – Side A (ping pong) – 8A/8H and Side B (spikeball) – 8C/8E. 

The “A” girls flag football team defeated Montague in their game yesterday 38-20.  Touchdown by Leah Hanlon, three touchdowns by MacKenzie MacLeod and two interceptions for touchdowns by Koda Hall. A strong defense played by Kate Scantlebury, Kiarra MacKinnon and rusher Julia Crane. The girls had great teamwork and communication throughout the game helping them earn the win. They will be heading to playoffs next week, way to go girls!

The QC baseball team played their final regular season game yesterday, losing to Morell 5-1. Top batters were Carson McBride and Lucas Hood, while Jack Burke and Yasu Hojo pitched well for the coyotes. The boys finished the season with a 2-2 record and are preparing for their playoff game next Thursday. The boys will practice Tuesday at 3:15 at City Field.

Yesterday the softball team played a tough game against Birchwood at the QE field but came up short.  Marley Nogler went 3 for 3 at the plate with two singles and a walk, scoring one run and Hailey Bernard went 2 for 3 at the plate with a single and a walk scoring one run.  Good pitching by Sarah Wakelin and nice fielding by Hallie Linton and Jordyn Knox.  Players are reminded of their practice on Tuesday at 4:30.

Today is the last day to borrow books from the library.

Today is the last day for our two Holland College students who have been working with our EA's for the past several weeks. Thank you to Brea LeBlanc and Kim Doyle and congratulations on your upcoming graduation.
 
We continue with our Diversity Week today. Thank you to all for your participation and engagement for our presentation yesterday. We have 2 trivia questions today and home room teachers are asked to e-mail Mrs. Duffy by the end of the day today with your class answers to the trivia questions this week:
 
1. What were the names of our two speakers yesterday for our presentation? (First and last names)
 
2. We had guest announcers all week. What five languages did we hear this week on the announcements from our student speakers?
 
We will welcome some guests from the Department of Education and Public Schools Branch this morning as they are coming to tour and see our finished flag projects in the cafeteria. Welcome to all our guests!

We will be selling freezies at lunch for 1$ outside the cafeteria today until 12:25. The Student Council reps who are selling today are Jacky (7C), Emma (7I), Nadia (7G), Sam (8G). Those students are asked to meet outside the cafeteria at 11:55 to set up.
